TGA approved photo-therapy is a safe and effective treatment to improve the appearance of sun damaged and aged skin as well as uneven pigmentation, redness, brown pigmentation, age spots and sun spots. Photo-Therapy is used to treat broken capillaries and scarring while refining the texture and tone of skin.
Skin treatments using the photo rejuvenation process is new technique to treat skin damage non-invasively, as there is no disruption of the skin’s epidermal surface.
GB Medical offers a number of TGA approved light and laser devices to address all these concerns – including the Cutera Xeo Platform with the Limelight, Laser Genesis and CoolGlide modalities, as well as Candela’s Gentlemax Alexandrite Laser. Al these treatments are performed under the supervision of Dr Adel Soliman.
How can Photorejuvenation improve my appearance?
Photo-rejuvenation improves skin glow, texture, pore size, irregular pigmentation, facial blood vessels, even acne scars in a gentle manner with almost no recovery time. Using a broadband light/laser source, the entire face is treated without any pain. The procedure takes 30-60 minutes and is repeated every four weeks until the desired results are achieved.
It stimulates the formation of new collagen, refines lines and wrinkles and improves skin tone and the appearance of red blotches and superficial scars.
How does Photorejuvenation work?
Daily our skin gets exposed to the thinning ozone layer, polluted air, diseases and other harmful environmental elements. This exposure makes our skin look aged before time. When an energy source like Intense Pulse Light or Laser Device is directed at the skin; light is absorbed by the appropriate chromophore.
Skin rejuvenation and treatment of vascular and pigmented lesions mainly focuses on the chromophore haemoglobin and melanin. After the light gets absorbed heat is generated and transferred from the blood to the vascular endothelial cells, causing bio-stimulative affects on the skin.
Rejuvenation results in photo-chemical and photo-biological affects in cells and tissues. Initially, at the point where the lights hits the skin primary responses occur causing an interaction between the photons and molecules in the tissue. The primary response in turn leads to secondary effects which are known to induce chemical changes.
For rejuvenation to occur one of two mechanisms needs to take place. These two mechanisms are inflammatory and anti-inflammatory. A high power laser or IPL causes an inflammatory affect. A low level laser (1-4 j/cm2) causes an anti-inflammatory affect to take place.
Both mechanisms use a series of computerised light to improve skin texture, colour, pore size, broken blood vessels and wrinkles. It can also treat signs of ageing, sun damage, pigmentary abnormalities and cosmetic imperfections. By controlled traumatising of the epidermis and dermis the skin will be encouraged to go into ‘repair mode’.
