    Platelet Rich Plasma Injections

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections- the name does not sound new. These injections were first used in 1987 in open heart surgery.  Due to its healing powers today these are also used in many other fields including sports medicine, orthopaedics, cosmetics, fasciomaxillary and urology.

GB Medical uses Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections to rejuvenate and slow down the aging process of the skin and face. In the media this procedure is also referred sometimes as the Vampire Facelift.

Benefits of PRP injections in cosmetics

In PRP; ingredients from your own blood are used to regenerate your skin and balances the production of collagen giving you a younger looking skin. The ingredients used reside within the fraction of your blood named “Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) which are enriched with platelets, stem cells and growth factors.

When PRP injections are inserted into your skin; they accelerate the collagen formation in the body. These injections are bioactive stimulators that will increase collagen in turn increasing thickness of skin.

You can see the results of the treatment after the first session only. The injections are effective for treating:

    • Eye area
    • Fine lines and wrinkles
    • It can also improve skin tones and texture
    • Rejuvenate
    • Decolletage
    • Can treat dull dry skin, crepey neck and back of hands

PRP’s most exciting feature is that it is YOUR body, YOUR blood and YOUR plasma. Nothing artificial, nothing modified and therefore is 100% safe. It is the most natural way of rejuvenating.

    Results

For getting optimal results; you have to go minimum of three treatments each performed at the intervals of 6 weeks. You can notice the improvement in the skin texture and tone within 3 weeks and the results will last for almost a year.

     Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) FAQs

What is Platelet rich Plasma rejuvenation?

Platelet rich plasma rejuvenation is a technique where plasma is extracted from the individuals own blood and is injected back into the skin in high concentrations to stimulate collagen and elastin synthesis.

    Why use platelet rich plasma?

Platelet rich plasma is known for containing various growth factors, including platelet derived growth factor, vascular endothelial growth factor, transforming growth factor and insulin like growth factor. These growth factors are known to stimulate cell proliferation and differentiation therefore when injected reverses the signs of aging giving a younger looking skin.

What can platelet rich plasma improve?

There is scientific evidence that PRP:
    • Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
    • Improves skin texture and tone
    • Improves skin hydration
    • Reduces the appearance of acne scarring

    What does the process involve?

A small sample of your blood is taken and processed to separate the platelet poor plasma from the platelet rich plasma. The platelet rich plasma is then extracted and prepared in a clinical manner and injected into the area of the skin that needs rejuvenation.

    Is there any side effects?

One can experience light swelling, redness and minimal bruising after the procedure. This is normal and will resolve within a few days.

How long will the procedure take?

The procedure will take anywhere from 20-30 minutes depending on the area being rejuvenated.

How long will it take to see results?

Results are visible between 3-6 weeks and continue to improve over months. Best results are attained through 1-3 consecutive treatments.

    Are there any contraindications?

Please inform Dr Soliman if you are taking any medication including blood thinning medication, steroidal or undergoing any long term therapies.
