Smoker Lips refer to the lines around the mouth area that corresponds to the site where a cigarette is held. These occur when collagen and elastin is broken down around the mouth area owing to repetitive movement of lips while smoking and also due to the toxins from smoking. They break down collagen and elastin faster than it would naturally.
What treatments are available?
These can be treated using dermal fillers. They are injected into the lip area to plump out the wrinkle and re-define the shape of the lips. Apart from dermal fillers; laser genesis and skin needling is also used to stimulate collagen production.
